Below are some of the most promising announcements concerning the production of HDTV Equipment.

In the begining:
  • On Thursday, August 6, 1998, DOW Stereo Electronics Clairmont store in San Diego, CA started selling the first commercially available HDTV sets. It is a Panasonic 56-inch rear projection model. Its list price is $5499. (with free local delivery! :)
    At the same event, Unity Motion announced that they will start broadcasting HDTV over a satellite channel 24 hours per day. Their converter box costs about $1500.
